SUCCESS IN TUCSON!
Report from the President - Sanjay Ramakumar, M.D.

I am proud to report that the AZUS has turned the corner! The first meeting in five years was held on April 16-18, 2010 in Tucson at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort.

The weekend event featured superb presentations from our residents at the Mayo Clinic and U of A, 5 State of the Art Lectures, 2 excellent keynote lectures and 2 well attended social events. Our opening night reception on Friday was very well attended with 72 in attendance which included our industry representatives and speakers. The meetings were fully attended and moderated.

Many thanks go out to Keynote Speaker Dr. Allen Morey from University of Texas, Southwestern Medical School, and Special Guest Speaker Dr. Brian Flynn from University of Colorado.

The minutes of the member’s business meeting are enclosed for your review. I am pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Darson, MD (Scottsdale) was elected vice-president.

With 50 registered members, 14 exhibiting companies, 26 presentations and excellent feedback, by any standard it was hugely successful. Yes, I believe we even turned a small profit. Total meeting registration of 112 included 50 physicians, 27 spouse/guests, 32 exhibitors, and 3 staff.

Dues Cycle 2010-2011
Dues were sent last year in April, you will now find enclosed your dues statement for the current year June 2010- June 2011. We are extending our membership to Nurses, PA’s, all medical extenders for $150 which includes all member benefits and the annual meeting. Please have them call 714-550-9155 or email info@azurological.org to get more information and an application to join. Remember your dues include all membership correspondence, AZUS website use, registration for the annual meeting and timely information on urology issues. With the group’s reorganization, I am the current representative to the Arizona Medical Association, which has important information for our practices. My goal this year is to get 25 new members—please help me make this goal!!!

2011 Annual Meeting
We are once again in planning for next year! Next year’s meeting will be held in Phoenix at about the same time. We have a one of a kind society and it can only thrive with your participation and membership. Please see list of current list of membership, if you do not see a colleague’s name, please encourage him/her to join. Thank you for your continued support.
